Surprise Parties And Celebrating An Empty Calendar

Posted in Day-To-Day, Family, Friends, Travel by matt on Saturday, October 27, 2012

The ironic thing about blogging, for me, is this: whenever I’m actually doing blog-worthy things, I don’t usually get around to sharing them with you. But I can almost always manage to web-log whenever life calms down.

Praise GOD, I have two weeks of calm right now.

We’re celebrating the empty calendar by sleeping in, catching up with friends in Slemani, and just hangin’ out. I also teamed up with a couple of Cayla’s friends to throw her a surprise birthday party. Cayla’s general omniscience made me think there was no way she’d be surprised when we walked into the room, but, sure enough—after the look of terror left her face—she was pleasantly surprised when the whole room shouted “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” to her in semi-unison.

Here are a few shots from the party:

The rest of 2012 won’t be quite so relaxed, and I’ll likely continue my lackluster blogging streak as we’ll be traveling for all but a few days of November and December.

But, if you’re interested in keeping up with us and our work, I blog weekly HERE and I’m regularly posting new photographic work HERE as well as recent video work HERE.

So there’s my update, but what about you? Comment below to let me know what’s happening with you and yours—I’d love to hear about it!
